How Blue Gives Back

Our Social Impact program focuses on connecting youth with technology to inspire, motivate and empower their education. We do this through several national initiatives which include our Best Buy School Tech Grant program, Geek Squad Academy and our Best Buy Grade 10 Scholarships in partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.

We are proud of the work we do in communities across the country that positively impact thousands of students in their education journey. While our dedication is always to the customer first and foremost, Best Buy would not be complete without supporting the kids and youth growing up in our technology-driven world.

What matters to you, matters to us!

Best Buy is proud to support our employees' personal choice to donate or volunteer time in their community. In 2017 we launched our all-year, opening giving program called myGiving. This initiative enables all employees to donate to any registered Canadian charity and receive a company match of 40%. myGiving also rewards volunteerism by tracking employee volunteer time and donating $15 dollars for every hour volunteered.

Where we're winning in sustainability

  • We have a very enthusiastic environmental council called the Green Team which includes representatives from across our business that help us set targets, adopt initiatives and consider our environmental impact in the things that we do.
  • We recycle more consumer technology than any other company in Canada. We even recycle e-waste products that weren’t purchased at Best Buy. We try to make the process super easy for our customers, to help them be environmentally considerate too.
  • We are constantly increasing the number of EnergyStar appliances that we offer. This helps our customers reduce energy use.
  • At CHQ, we have had an aggressive waste reduction initiative since 2012, with the goal of achieving near zero waste.
